It is 1920 and Indonesia is under Dutch colonial rule. Young doctor Giandra investigates a village girl named Layla, who was put in shackles because she was considered mentally crazy. But the more he tries to care for Layla, the more he realises that there is something that science cannot explain. Together with journalist Rikke, Giandra tries to uncover the mystery hidden in Karuhun Village.
